TLDR: watch the video!
1. Pre-selling before launching
Before actually building and launching their software, they took a customer-centric approach by conducting numerous interviews with potential customers to understand their needs and pain points.
Doing interviews is one of the best ways to do so because, in those 1-on-1s, you get to feel and see the pain points of your potential customers to figure out how to best solve those problems with the features of your product.
After they talked to dozens of potential customers, they came up with a beta version of the product and offered a special discount rate which allowed those early users to sign up to a deal.
This not only helped finance the product's build but also made the product roadmap clearer.
2. Viral Loop Marketing
Flodesk adds a link and mentions to the footer of their templates that says: “Made with love and Flodesk”
Apparently, around 83% of all Flodesk users leave it on.
This means that Flodesk can benefit from the growth of its own users:
Because if they grow their email list, more and more people will be exposed to Flodesk.
Resulting in more eyeballs for Flodesk.
Which leads to more sign-ups for Flodesk.

Now, through this group, Flodesk created a super engaging and supportive community around their product, which inevitably creates loyal users and ambassadors.
